The Patient Service Representative is responsible for preparing charts for patient visits, including but not limited to:
• Greeting patients, checking and entering arrival time.
• Updating and/or entering patients in practice management system.
• Having the appropriate information prepared for the clinical staff, copying insurance card and verifying insurance coverage.
• Notifying the clinical staff when a patient has arrived.
• Providing efficient office support, teamwork and outstanding customer service.
• Understanding and explaining Center policies regarding late arrival and no shows.
• Directing patients on scheduling appointments
• Assisting patients with forms including Medical Record Release forms when requesting medical records.
• Taking messages for prescription refills and paperwork requests.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent certificate required, along with two to three years of experience in a health care facility preferred. Current CPR certification or ability to receive certification within 90 days of hire required. Basic knowledge of third party payers, ICD-10 and CPT coding and medical terminology is preferred. Basic computer and keyboarding skills using MS Office required; previous experience in EMR preferred. Strong oral communication and telephone skills and excellent customer service skills required; bilingual in Spanish helpful. Used to working in a fast-paced work environment; strong prioritization skills needed; must be able to perform multiple tasks at the same time.
